“I began this journey last year when my son was training with his kindergarten class to do the Run through history fun run. I joined MM and my group gave me the inspiration that I needed to continue. I made lots of new friends and learned SO much. And I had the best coach ever!”

“Marathon Makeover has given me the motivation to run and achieve my goal. I have made many friends and look forward each Saturday to run and just to talk to everybody. People make this program work. I will sign up next year just to be apart of this program.”
Gary Thornton
“This has been one of the best years of my life. I thank all of my MM buddies for being out there every Saturday and on the blog with encouraging words, great wit, and the willingness to shoulder the really tough burdens of your new marathon friends along the way. I know that many of us didn’t step into the MM frontier without some significant weight…whether it was physical, spiritual, or emotional. As I reviewed my “why” I realized that this has been a year to get my life back in balance. God has literally answered a prayer for me with Marathon Makeover, and I appreciate Robin, Mark, Cheryl, and Bama for their guidance, support, and encouragement of all of us along the way. Their families have been an incredible blessing, too.”

“Marathon Makeover was a life changing experience for me. I am sure everyone thinks the same. It was the hardest thing I have ever done physically. But all those weeks of training paid off in the end. Everyone was so positive to me and very encouraging.”
Marsha Edwards
“This program is the only exercise / lifestyle program I have ever been able to stay on in my entire life. At one time or another I’ve been a member of several different gyms including the ladies only ones; but MM is the only one I have worked consistently and I think it is because of the way the program is structured and all the positive encouragement and support you get from others and the MM team leaders. You are not alone in this process like I always felt at the gym. Physical coordination doesn’t matter. This is a program for REAL people, not the plastics or Barbie dolls that I saw at the gyms. If I CAN DO THIS ANYONE CAN!”
Heather Cochran-Smith
“Marathon Makeover has been the vehicle that has guided me from being a life-long casual runner (since high school, 1963) to being a marathoner. For me it was not an extreme transition, but a significant one nonetheless. It is clear to me now the value of establishing a training/fitness program with a clear goal, then staying the course to attain it. Training with fellow goal-setters provides the motivation and the accountability to insure mutual success. MM is successful and will continue to be because you have kept it simple. You have given us the tools and motivation. It’s up to us as individuals to execute the plan. Excellent recipe, and the results speak for themselves.”

“Thank you to my wonderful Ridgeland team members. I love you all and this is truly an experience that I will never forget. After completing this marathon, I realized that there is nothing I can’t do in life and I have Marathon Makeover, Bama & Cheryl, Mark & Robin, and the wonderful Ridgeland team to thanks for this incredible experience!”
Shunika Stallworth
“In January when I signed up for Marathon Makeover, Robin said something that has stuck with me for the entire 40 weeks. “We will believe in you until you can believe in yourself!” It took me almost all of 40 weeks to believe in myself, but I thank all of you who believed in me before I did.”
Stephanie Steelman
“Wow, that was an interesting weekend. I had the rare honor of being present Friday night when my son proposed to his girl friend and then I followed that by surviving the marathon. I don’t believe I could have handled much more emotion, however I am very grateful for both events.
I promised myself at about mile 23 that I would never participate in another marathon, then Martin said “what about that Talladega Marathon in March.” I don’t know maybe just a couple more. Thanks for the support of a great group of friends commonly know as “Team Clinton”.”
Ricky Burns
“They say youth is wasted on the young. All I know is when I started running years ago all I thought about was winning… and all I did was get hurt. This year traning with friends, I have found what I was missing all those years. All of the trophies and all the medals I have for those years are not worth missing one training run with my frends. I have never been so proud to see others do well, even when they are ahead of me. Ive seen everyone transform in one way or another. Thank you TEAM CLINTON you have taught an old dog what running is all about.”
Tommy Smith
“What a journey! After the race, I was talking to one of the friends and she said, “Glenda, you are a marathoner”. Guys, do you remember our first meeting with Mark and Robin in January? Mark and Robin told us to tell ourselves, “I am a marathoner”. Praise be to God, He helped me to finish this 40 week journey and I ran my 2 Half Marathon Races with patience. In spite of my knee problems, God allowed me to Finish my 40 week course. AMEN.”
