<p>We realize times are difficult financially and we have decided that not only are we going to change the lives of 50,000 couch potatoes, we are also going to change the lives of 100 runners, like you, who would like to turn couch potatoes into marathoners.</p>
<p>We are giving away a Licensed Marathon Makeover Program to 100 qualified team leaders who love to run, and more importantly have a passion to change lives. With this license, you will be qualified to lead a Marathon Makeover team in your area without the $1,000 licensing fee to start.</p>

Here they are&#8230;</p>

<li><strong>Heart Disease</strong>- it&#8217;s not just a man&#8217;s world when it comes to problems with the old ticker. Heart disease is the number one, preventable health risk for women. What can you do to prevent it?
<ul>
<li>Don&#8217;t smoke</li>
<li>Eat a healthy diet</li>
<li>Manage chronic conditions</li>
<li>Include physical activity in your daily routine</li>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Saturday, April 30th, over 1300 runners and walkers participated in the 4th Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon and 10k!  Previously, the race was held in June and included a 5k instead of the 10k, but when we moved the race, we changed it to a 10k.  Why?  Because this race is actually for Marathon Makeover participants on their journey towards completing their first marathon.  We celebrate their achievements thus far, by inviting the public to join us.</p>
<p>There are several reasons why this race is such a successful, fun event.  One reason is that we have some of the most gracious people come out and serve as volunteers.  They work tirelessly to make the expo and race run smoothly.  From working at packet pick up, handing out water, serving finish line food and cleaning up after, these volunteers come out to help our participants succeed.  The next reason is the effect our participants have on our volunteers.  Many of our volunteers tell us how inspired they are by the runners &#8211; fast and slow alike.  The determination, resolve and effort shown by our race participants motivates many of the onlookers and volunteers to get up and get moving, too!</p>
<p>And, of course, one last reason that I want to mention is that the support we receive from the City of Ridgeland (from the police to the tourism department), the many people at The Renaissance at Colony Park and all of our sponsors is overwhelming.  These folks care about the health of our state and those who visit.  They support you, the participant, by supporting this event.</p>

<p>You can register for this site by clicking &#8220;sign up&#8221; in the top right corner of the MM home page.  This is necessary in order to use the website.  Registering for the program does not automatically give you access.  Go through the process of signing up for the website.  If you are registered for MM, you will be approved.  Please allow some time for your account to be activated.<br />
After you have signed up and in on the website, be sure to join your area group.  You will be able to receive any special news and/or announcement that pertain specifically to your group or area.<br />
Blog!  Post your picture, introduce yourself to the group and start blogging.  It doesn&#8217;t have to be much, just check in and let us know who you are and why you have started your marathon makeover journey.<br />

<p>Get the most of the online community by going to <a href="my.marathonmakeover.com/page/training-schedule.html">www.my.marathonmakeover.com</a>. There you will find the schedule, the weekly educational video, featured videos, blogs and more!</p>
<p>At your first meeting, you will receive your participant&#8217;s guide.  This is a great go-to resource for you throughout the 40 week training.  You will also be receiving a stretching and strength training dvd, as well as an MM team technical shirt.  The dvds will be distributed the week of 2/26.  The team shirts will be distributed mid-March.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Marathon Makeover will be accepting registrations until February 19!  It is NOT too late to join.</p>
<p>2011 is going to be a great year to be a part of Marathon Makeover!  We began January 22 and will continue to accept registrations through February 19.</p>
<p>You may be wondering if you are too far behind.  Here&#8217;s my answer:  We really do take couch potatoes and turn them into marathoners!  That being the case, we begin by walking ONE mile.  We did that as a group last Saturday.  This Saturday, we will go a bit farther and WALK one and a half miles.  You will have no problem joining us at this point or at any point up to the 19th.</p>
<p>If you are wanting to do something for yourself, improve your health, enjoy a supportive community of other beginners, or if you just don&#8217;t want to train by yourself, come on out and see what it&#8217;s all about!  We will help you reach your goal of running and/or walking a half or full marathon.</p>
<p>When you join Marathon Makeover, you will enjoy Saturday group meetings and runs, weekday runs with your teammates, a moderate training schedule and online support, both through the website and emails.</p>
