Recently, we came across an article by the Mayo Clinic staff that outlined the <a href="http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/womens-health/WO00014" target="_blank">seven threats</a> to women&#8217;s health and what you can do to prevent them. Here they are&#8230;</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Heart Disease</strong>- it&#8217;s not just a man&#8217;s world when it comes to problems with the old ticker. Heart disease is the number one, preventable health risk for women. What can you do to prevent it?
<ul>
<li>Don&#8217;t smoke</li>
<li>Eat a healthy diet</li>
<li>Manage chronic conditions</li>
<li>Include physical activity in your daily routine</li>
<li>Maintain a healthy weight</li>
<li>Limit alcohol</li>
<li>Manage stress</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Cancer</strong>- Some types of cancer are a concern to women, including breast cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer and colorectal cancer. Consider these general tips to reduce your risk of cancer:

<p>Marathon Makeover is a 40-week, marathon-training, wellness program and, under the leadership of Mark and Robin Simpson, is starting its eighth year of helping ordinary people do the extraordinary — train for and finish a marathon!</p>
<p>We have walkers, runners, joggers and woggers (walk/jog) and most of our past marathoners could barely walk or run one mile when they started. Through our hands on training, positive motivation and the friendly group experience of Marathon Makeover, people from all walks of life and ages have grown through this life changing experience.</p>
<p>Marathon Makeover 2012 will kick off in January with “Kick-Off” Meetings in areas near you.</p>

<h1><span style="color: #ad152e;">THE PROGRAM</span></h1>
<p>For the first ten weeks, you will participate in informative, Saturday morning, educational meetings that teach you all you need to know to get started and train for a marathon. Special attention is paid to helping everyone connect with others and develop a support team of other highly motivated people.</p>
<p>These fun and informative meetings will be held at locations in your area and will be followed by a group training run/walk that gradually increases each week. A daily training schedule is provided to guide you through your entire training and our online community will give you daily training support and encouragement to help you go the distance.</p>
<p>After the first ten weeks, we will continue to meet on Saturday mornings for group training runs (<em>check your local Team Page to determine the location of your group run/meeting</em>). Hydration stations of water and sports drink are provided for each training run, as well as, post run snacks are organized for the longer runs. Each route is mapped out for you and clearly marked. All you have to do is just show up.</p>

<p>Train with Marathon Makeover ONLINE and you&#8217;ll be motivated and inspired by our Online Training Team.</p>
<p>If you live in an area where there is no Marathon Makeover training team within 30 miles, you can be a part of the online training program of Marathon Makeover.</p>
<p><strong>Online members will receive the following:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><em><strong>Access to the member&#8217;s section of the Marathon Makeover website.</strong></em><br />
Training videos, streaming web shows, articles, and audios will be available to you when you train with MM online. You will join in the web community/social network of trainees across MM and get to know others training for the same goal. This is a great tool to get support and remain accountable to a team.</li>
<li><em><strong>A Training Kit.<br />
</strong></em>You will receive the Marathon Makeover Training Kit which includes a<strong></strong> technical training shirt, a Participant&#8217;s Guide, and a Strength Training &amp; Stretching DVD.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Your training schedule will coincide with the Marathon Makeover Wellness Program and begins January 21st</strong> . A daily training schedule will be provided and Saturday long run distances will be outlined. As you get in your miles, you will not be alone &#8211; we will be here to support you online!</p>
<p><strong>The cost of to participate in Marathon Makeover Online is $179.95 or you can use our &#8220;Easy Pay&#8221; system and pay $19.95 per month for ten months to make it fit in your budget &#8211; you choose!</strong></p>
